Linde PLC Expands with $400 Million Investment in Low-Carbon Ammonia Plant

Linde PLC, a leading industrial gas and engineering company, has announced a significant new agreement with Blue Point Number One, a joint venture involving CF Industries, JERA, and Mitsui Co. The deal involves Linde supplying industrial gases to a world-scale low-carbon ammonia plant in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. This agreement is part of Linde’s ongoing commitment to supporting the energy transition and reducing carbon emissions.

Under the terms of the Build-Own-Operate (BOO) agreement, Linde will invest $400 million to construct an air separation unit (ASU) designed to produce 1.4 million metric tons of industrial gases annually. The ASU will supply oxygen and nitrogen to the Blue Point project, which is expected to be one of the largest low-carbon ammonia facilities globally.

The new plant is a critical component in the production of low-carbon ammonia, a key ingredient in sustainable agriculture and a potential fuel for clean energy applications. By supplying essential gases, Linde is playing a pivotal role in the development of this environmentally friendly technology.

Linde’s investment aligns with its strategic focus on clean hydrogen and carbon capture systems, essential for the energy transition. The company’s expertise in industrial gases and technologies positions it as a key player in the global shift towards sustainable industrial practices.

The agreement was announced on June 23, 2025, with Linde’s shares trading on the New York Stock Exchange. As of June 19, 2025, Linde’s close price was $398.2, with a market capitalization of $215.92 billion. The company’s price-to-earnings ratio stood at 33.29, reflecting its strong market position and growth prospects.
