This development marks a pivotal moment for the company, known for its diverse range of chillers, heat exchangers, and sea water desalination equipment, as it ventures deeper into the realm of renewable energy.
On June 11, 2025, Shuangliang announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jiangsu Shuangliang New Energy Equipment Co Ltd, signed a contract with Hongyang New Energy Development Group Co Ltd’s subsidiary in Jilin. The deal, valued at 4.5 billion yuan, involves the supply of green hydrogen systems for the Hongyang Hydrogen and Ammonia Alcohol Integrated Project in Fuhai County. This project is set to boast a green hydrogen production capacity of 72,000 Nm³/h, featuring state-of-the-art alkaline electrolysis cells with capacities of 5,000 Nm³/h, 3,000 Nm³/h, and 2,000 Nm³/h. These figures place the project at the forefront of the industry, showcasing Shuangliang’s commitment to leading the charge in green hydrogen technology.
The contract represents 3.45% of Shuangliang’s 2024 annual business revenue, underscoring the growing importance of new energy equipment in its portfolio. In 2024, the company’s new energy equipment business alone generated revenue of 9.46 billion yuan, with a gross margin of 35.37%. This success is a testament to Shuangliang’s strategic focus on expanding its hydrogen energy business, which it views as a crucial growth driver for the future.
Shuangliang’s technological prowess is evident in its self-developed JSDJ S1 series alkaline water electrolysis cells, which have received international third-party certification. These cells can produce up to 2,000 Nm³/h of hydrogen, with plans to launch the world’s largest 5,000 Nm³/h high-performance alkaline electrolysis cell. This innovation positions Shuangliang as a global leader in hydrogen production, offering the largest scale, highest current density, and lowest energy consumption at equivalent current densities.
Moreover, Shuangliang’s Carbon Neutrality Research Institute is collaborating with top universities on cutting-edge projects, including high-efficiency, low-cost AEM catalysts and membrane electrodes, direct ammonia electrolysis hydrogen production equipment, and surface treatment of megawatt-level PEM electrolysis hydrogen stacks, electrodes, and electric heating elements. These initiatives highlight the company’s dedication to advancing hydrogen technology and its applications.
In addition to its domestic achievements, Shuangliang has made significant strides in international markets. In January 2024, the company secured an order from United Solar Polysilicon (FZC) SPC in Oman for a 100,000-ton high-purity silicon base material project. This contract, valued at approximately 4.2 billion yuan, includes multiple crystal silicon reduction furnaces and green electricity intelligent hydrogen equipment, further cementing Shuangliang’s position as a key player in the global renewable energy sector.
