Yubico AB Survey Highlights Cybersecurity Gaps in the U.S.

Yubico AB, a Swedish company specializing in secure two-factor authentication solutions, has released a new survey revealing significant cybersecurity gaps among Americans. Despite the rise in phishing attacks, nearly 50% of Americans continue to reuse passwords across multiple online accounts. This finding underscores a critical vulnerability in personal and organizational cybersecurity practices.

The survey, conducted by Talker Research, examined online habits across the top 10 U.S. metro markets. It found that while many Americans believe they are security-savvy, they are still making fundamental mistakes. Notably, only 3% of respondents identified hardware security keys as the most secure method for protecting online accounts, despite these being considered the most effective tool against phishing attacks.

The survey also highlighted differences in cybersecurity awareness among various U.S. cities. While New Yorkers and Californians were noted for their busy lifestyles, the survey suggests that these factors may contribute to a lack of attention to cybersecurity practices.

Yubico AB, listed on the Swedish Stock Exchange with a market cap of 11.63 billion SEK, continues to advocate for improved cybersecurity measures. The company’s close price as of August 17, 2025, was 135.95 SEK, with a 52-week high of 319.5 SEK and a low of 110.15 SEK. The price-to-earnings ratio stands at 47.719.

This survey serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges in cybersecurity education and the need for more robust security practices among individuals and businesses alike. Yubico AB remains committed to its mission of making the internet safer for everyone.
