West Point Gold Corp launches a 30 000‑meter drilling campaign at Gold Chain

West Point Gold Corp. (TSXV: WPG; OTCQX: WPGCF; FSE: LRA0) announced on 9 September 2026 that it will commence a new drilling phase at its Gold Chain property in Arizona. The program will combine reverse‑circulation (RC) and core drilling for a total of 30 000 m, expanding the high‑grade NE Tyro and Tyro Main zones and targeting additional features such as Black Dyke, Sheep Trail, Bull 8 and the Frisco Graben.

Focus of the new program

The company’s president and CEO, Derek Macpherson, highlighted that Gold Chain is approaching a key milestone with its maiden resource. The 30 000 m program is designed to build on the foundation laid by the 20 696 m of drilling already completed to date at Tyro. The objective is to push the high‑grade NE Tyro mineralization deeper below 66.2 m at 6.57 g/t Au (GC26‑148) and to advance the Black Dyke, Sheep Trail and district‑scale Frisco Graben targets.

  • NE Tyro – The best drill results to date have come from NE Tyro, a shallow zone that has returned significant grades and widths. The next phase will focus on extending this zone both in strike and depth, targeting areas beneath the most recent high‑grade holes (Target Area 1) and exploring toward the Frisco Mine fault, which may serve as a regional conduit for mineralizing fluids (Target Area 2).
  • Tyro Main – Recent drilling has shown weakening gold grades to depth, suggesting the zone may resemble the cap of a low‑sulphidation epithermal system. The plan is to continue testing Tyro Main to depth by stepping down below the 2026 intercepts and by pushing the limits of Target Area 1 to the southwest (Target Area 3).
  • Other targets – Black Dyke, Sheep Trail, Bull 8 and the Frisco Graben will also receive drilling attention, with the goal of expanding the resource base beyond the upcoming initial estimate.

Significance for the company

With a market capitalisation of approximately 154 million CAD and a recent closing price of 1.54 CAD, West Point Gold is positioned as an exploration‑focused miner in the precious‑metal sector. The 30 000 m drilling programme represents a substantial investment in advancing its Arizona portfolio, potentially unlocking a significant resource that could support future development or partnership opportunities.

The company’s stated objective is to expand the high‑grade zones and secure a robust maiden resource estimate, which would enhance West Point Gold’s valuation and attract additional capital. The drilling results, once available, will provide the data necessary to assess the feasibility of further exploration or a possible transition to a development‑stage project.
